Cargiant recommends... the Ford Fiesta

| In Car Reviews

The Ford Fiesta originally dates back to the 70s and his set a remarkable record of been the UK’s best-selling car every year since 2009. The Fiesta had always been a reliable, attractive, practical and fun small hatchback but it wasn’t until the launch of the 6th gen model in 2008, that the blue oval began to dominate the highly competitive market. This blog post talks you through why Cargiant think the Ford Fiesta is a must have small car.

Features

The standard 3 and 5 door Ford Fiesta is available in 6 trim levels, Studio, Style, Zetec, Zetec S (ST-Line from 2016), Titanium and Titanium X spec. Standard features across the range include air conditioning, USB connection, electric windows and remote central locking. The mid-range Zetec model adds alloy wheels, front fog lights, a quickclear heated windscreen and trip computer. A sporty bodykit and suspension is added to the Zetec S trim. Titanium models benefit from cruise control, Bluetooth, a DAB radio, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers and rear privacy glass. The rage topping Titanium X trim adds a partial leather interior, rear parking sensors, rear-view camera and Ford’s KeyFree system.

Engine, Performance and Drive

Alongside the 2012 facelift, Ford introduced their revolutionary 1.0 litre 3-cylinder petrol EcoBoost engine. Available with 3 power outputs, 100PS, 125PS and 140PS, the car can generate between 57.7 and 65.7mpg depending on gearbox. Tax for pre-2017 Fiestas is low, it ranges from £0-£30.

Other petrol engines include a manual only 1.25 unit and 1.6 manual and automatic engine; both of which can produce in excess of 45mpg. If diesel is your preference, there are manual only 1.5 and 1.6 litre engines to choose from, both of which can give in excess of 75mpg and £0 road tax.

Reliability and Safety

The Ford Fiesta scores a 5* Euro NCAP safety rating; the highest a vehicle can achieve. All models feature an array of airbags, hill start assist, electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes.
